Dharmadi Nohon 2010, Social and Cultural Society Profile of Fisherman        Tanjung Limau Pangempang Village Muara Badak District Kutai Kartanegara Regency (Supervised by Juliani and Zul Asman Randika).

This study aims to describe the social and cultural feature of fishing communities in the village of Tanjung Limau Pangempang  Muara Badak District including customs and culture. Sampling tecnique used to purposive sampling with the number of responden were 11^th person. The data collected by survey method,  the object of research and observation to conducted with interviews to respondent. Necessary data in this study consisted of primary and secondary data.

Results from this study showed that existing infrastructure was inadequate Pangempang Village as the lack of electricity from PLN to be one factor inhibiting social incoming information, some of customs and social systems there are  in community life such as fisherman trust, including (1) Feast of the sea and (2) Kela-kela. While covering ethics, rules and restrictions which are (1) Don’t catch fish at ceremonial events, (2) No catch fish by using bombs (3) No washing pots used to cook rice in the sea water directly. While for the aspects of technique and technology it self, including (1) Given the condition of waters is one of the important factors that are trusted by society Pangempang. That includes low and high  tide and weather conditions, (2) Techniques in Pangempang comunity catching most still use traditional tools such as handline fishing, guiding barrier, and gillnet. there are also techniques that brackish water ponds for shrimp and milk fish farming,  (3) usage modern technology such as Global Position System (GPS) and compas  by fisherman  Pangempang.
